What is the price of silence?
In the fractured world of Deadwake, the Cascade never stops screaming. Every faction has found its own way to survive the noise: the Choir sings it into scripture, the Compact builds shelter from shared belief, the Wayfinders chart the quiet paths between one shriek and the next. But beneath every one of those strategies runs the same older, stranger rumor, that somewhere in the wreckage of the old world, a place exists where the noise simply stops.
They call it a thousand things. The Wayfinders call it the Still Point. The Quietists call it Cognitive Zero. The Choir calls it the Great Heresy, a tumor of silence in their god's endless song. Nobody agrees on what it is. Everybody agrees it's real, and everybody wants it, for reasons that put them on a collision course with everyone else who wants it too.
The Silent City is a complete metaphysical expansion for the Deadwake universe, and it asks a question none of the setting's other sourcebooks dare to ask: what happens if you actually find what you're looking for?
This is not a book about conquering new territory or claiming another corporate stronghold. It is a book about a pilgrimage, and pilgrimages have a cost. New mechanics transform the character sheet itself into the battlefield. A Personal Resonance Track charts a Seeker's slow, dangerous approach to the City through five escalating Silent Markers, each one a step closer to transcendence and a step further from the person the character used to be. THREADLOCK, the setting's most private attribute, becomes the hidden fuse behind every Cohesion check, and running it out doesn't just cost you a fight. It costs you your mind.
And Arrival, when it finally comes, is not a reward you simply collect. Reaching the Silent City means surrendering the very things that made a character an individual, their loyalties, their agenda, their attachments. What's left behind is powerful, serene, and no longer quite the person who set out. Some Seekers don't make it that far. Fail, and the book gives you a full spectrum of ruin to fall into instead, from a fractured, conflicting new self to a hollow vessel with no self at all.
To bring this pilgrimage to the table, the book delivers three fully detailed derelict tombs, ready to run at three escalating tiers of danger. The Lullaby is a nursery ship still singing to cradles that have been empty for forty years. The Argument is a research station still replaying the evacuation debate that killed everyone aboard it. The Witness is an observatory trapped in a time loop around the only complete recording of the Cascade in existence. Each comes with a map, a Conduit, statted inhabitants, and a hazard, ready to drop into any campaign without another hour of prep.
None of this happens in a vacuum. All eleven of the setting's major factions have a stake in the Silent City, and none of them want the same thing from it. The Architects want to dissect it. The Null Guard wants to erase it. The Quietists want to replicate it. The Choir wants it silenced forever. A full Machiavellian Resonance system lets every Seeker at the table carry a hidden agenda tied to their faction's true goal, turning a cooperative pilgrimage into a quiet, ongoing negotiation about what the party is actually there for.
Whether you run it as a full campaign or weave it as a mythic thread through an existing game of corporate warfare and wasteland survival, The Silent City gives your table something Deadwake has never offered before, a quest where victory itself is the twist.
The path is open. The echoes are calling. The only question left is what you're willing to give up to answer them.
