Shrouded in secrecy and passed down since time immemorial, a select few whisper among themselves the legend of a forgotten city called “V.” A paradise of light, singing canals, and gardens in perpetual bloom, it is said to have been built by giants who have since vanished. Having set out to convert the souls of southern Petén, an expedition of conquistadors have become lost in the jungle. Its survivors find themselves at the gates of a city buried beneath the canopy. The city’s splendors and abominations, erased from human memory, are jealously guarded by its sovereign, who lies asleep, devoid of memory and merciless towards intruders.

At the start of this narrative campaign, fate decides who you will embody: outcasts or the chosen ones, these motley and vision-driven conquistadors have nothing in common except the whisper of V, which gnaws at them and guides them. They must explore, infiltrate, survive, discover V’s riches and forgotten secrets, and, above all, transform themselves. But the guardian is awakening: he will hunt them down and remember the city’s destiny.

Dead City of V: Paradise Lost ushers in a new generation of narrative miniatures games, powered by the NExUS system, a brand-new universal rules engine. Asymmetrical factions clash, each with its own way of playing and winning. Here, you don’t waste time marching toward the next destination: each turn is played out through actions and tactical decisions, and it’s the exploits of each player that drive the story forward, amid plot twists and agonizing choices.
