At the start of the game, the knights position themselves on the green spots at the corners of the tournament stages. Each player rolls the die once and advances the number of points rolled. On a 1, they move straight ahead. On a 2 or 3, they move in a lateral direction, changing course once. Only one square may be crossed diagonally.
Green squares mean a horse falls; if a rider encounters one, they must move back one square, as does the same if they roll black.

Opposing knights must try to meet on the same course. A knight is defeated if the opponent jumps onto the square in front of their position or overruns them. The winner receives a golden wreath. The player who has captured the most wreaths is the winner. There are 12 wreaths in the game.
The game continues until there are no more wreaths. Knights with the same number of wreaths engage in decisive battles.
