Commander Challenges are a series of games based on a single pattern which explores how to defend against three encroaching enemies which threaten to overwhelm you in a final attack.
As the commander you can defeat each of these enemies turn by turn and keep on top of the threat by patrolling, so that when a final assault is tried you can easily fend this off. Failure to keep on top of this building threat assures your destruction in the final assault!
The game can be played by one or two players.

Scenarios include:

Sack of Rome - Fifth century AD Rome (defender) holding three borders against barbarians composed of Huns, Vandals and Goths.
WW2: Operation Bagration - Nazi Germany (defender) holding the Eastern front against the Soviet attack in the summer of 1944.
Vietnam: The Colonel’s Challenge - US Army (defender) holding a US forward operating

base in Vietnam prior to the Tet offensive, 1968.

Compton, 1998 - LAPD (defender) attempts to hold down the Bloods, Crips and 18th Street gang on the streets of Compton, LA.

Each scenario has a pptx file, with a board, counters and summary flowchart, together with full rules in a pdf.

There is also a spreadsheet that will do all the required dice rolling, reinforcements etc for all games.
