Cờ toán Việt Nam (Vietnamese Math Chess) is a creative product of Mr. Vu Van Bay (also known as Vu Bay), a Vietnamese sculptor. Vietnamese Math Chess was officially recognized as an intellectual product by the Department of Copyright of Literary and Artistic Authors, Ministry of Culture - Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in May 2005.
The chessboard is rectangular, consisting of 99 squares (divided into 9 columns, each column has 11 squares and 11 rows, each row has 9 squares). The squares in row 2, column 5 and row 10, column 5 have diagonal lines, which are the positions for the number 0 (ie, during the game, the number 0 cannot move). The chess pieces are circular, each side has a different color, on each piece there are round dots (or numbers) representing the numbers 1-9 (for example, the number 1 piece has one round dot; the number 9 piece has nine round dots).
Thus, each side has nine chess pieces and one number 0 piece. Both sides arrange their pieces in the bottom horizontal row in order 1-9 (from left to right, i.e. increasing).
Except for the number 0 piece which cannot be moved out of position because it is a moving 0, the remaining pieces 1-9 can move horizontally, vertically, and diagonally. Each empty square on the chessboard is a move. The maximum number of moves is determined by the value of each piece. For example, the number 2 can move up to 2 empty squares, the number 9 can move up to 9 empty squares depending on the player's purpose. The number 1, because it is a mover, can only move to one square next to the square it is standing on. The pieces are not allowed to jump over the heads of other pieces.
When you want to capture an opponent's piece, the condition is that your side must have two pieces standing in two adjacent squares vertically, horizontally, or diagonally (to form a calculation and there is no opponent's piece in front of it). Then use addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (x), or division (:) together to get the answer. The answer to each calculation is the point at which the opponent's piece can be captured.
