In Chimangos, players take on the role of clever and opportunistic birds of prey native to South America, competing for survival and dominance across a changing landscape. The modular game board represents a shifting territory consisting of Zone Cards such as Pastures, Cities, Fields, Waste Dumps, and dangerous Hunter threats.

The game is played over 18 rounds divided into three scoring cycles. In each round, players simultaneously select and secretly program one action card from their hand to deploy new chimango tokens into the active territory, breed additional units, attack rivals, relocate between zones, or rest to recover previously played action cards.

At the end of rounds 5, 11, and 18, majorities are evaluated on each active Zone Card. The player with the most tokens on a card earns (or loses) Victory Points matching that zone's value. After the final scoring phase at round 18, the player who has accumulated the highest total number of Victory Points wins the game.
