Players take on the role of union plumbers navigating Chicago’s neighborhoods and major job sites, moving around the board to claim contracts instead of properties. Rather than buying streets, players secure commercial buildings, infrastructure projects, and union-relevant locations—from high-rise downtown builds to public works and industrial plants. Once owned, these contracts can be upgraded with training certifications, foreman status, and full crews, increasing the “dues” opponents must pay when landing there.

Money is themed as union wages, and the traditional railroads are replaced with supply houses, tool depots, or dispatch halls. Utilities become essentials like water mains and gas lines, where payouts scale based on dice rolls, reflecting the unpredictability of jobsite conditions.

Chance and Community Chest are reimagined as Jobsite Events and Union Business cards, triggering scenarios such as surprise inspections, overtime pay, strike votes, injury downtime, or winning a big municipal contract. Some cards reward players with bonuses and job security, while others introduce setbacks that reflect real-world trade challenges.

The “Jail” space becomes Apprenticeship Training or Union Hall Duty, where players are temporarily held up by mandatory classes, paperwork, or disciplinary review—but can get back to work by paying fines, using a special card, or rolling their way out.
