Catfetería is a poker-inspired card game of betting, bluffing, and risk management, where players compete to win cats and score the most points.

At the beginning of each round, a cat is revealed in the center of the table. Each cat has three different objects it likes, represented by hearts. Players play object cards to try to score the most hearts and win the cats. However, playing an object card requires betting Coffee tokens.

The catch is that you never know which cat will appear next. Players must decide how much Coffee to risk based only on the information they currently have, knowing that a future cat could completely change the value of their cards. This uncertainty keeps the tension high throughout the game, all the way to the final round, when the last cat is revealed.

Only one player wins each round and takes the cats. Players can also bluff, trying to convince their opponents to fold and claim the round without having to reveal the strength of their hand.

Coffee tokens spent on bets are not recovered. Once a player runs out of Coffee, they can no longer participate in further rounds, making resource management and knowing when to take risks crucial to victory.

Players score not only from the hearts on the cats they win, but also from the object cards they play. Objects have different point values, availability, and frequencies in the deck. Objects that tend to score fewer hearts can be worth more points, while objects capable of scoring very highly provide fewer points. This creates a constant risk-versus-reward decision: do you play the objects that are more likely to win the cat, or save your valuable scoring opportunities for later?
