The Battle of the Bzura (also known as Battle of Kutno) was the largest battle of the German Invasion of Poland, fought in 9th - 19th of September 1939 The battle took place west of Warsaw, near the Bzura River. It began as a Polish counter-offensive, led by the armies Poznań and Pomorze. Polish attack gained initial success, but the Germans outflanked the Polish forces with a concentrated counter-attack, withdrawing their units from the other parts of the front. This weakened Polish forces and the Poznań and Pomorze Armies were destroyed before reaching Warsaw.

Battle of Bzura was the biggest battle of the first stage of the world war 2. he battle has been described as "the bloodiest and most bitter battle of the entire Polish campaign". Winston Churchill called the battle an "ever-glorious struggle". Polish commanders hoped that their attack will make western allies to start their offensive against Germany, since most of the German units were now tied in the combat against Polish counter-attack.

Bzura 1939 is a third game about this battle released in Poland. It is released in WB-95, regiment-battalion scale system. It's pretty easy and quick to learn and play system, with low complexity of the rules.
