British Bulldog is a competitive race and chase board game for 2–4 players in which each player attempts to guide their “man” across a garden maze while avoiding opposing bulldogs. One player controls a single runner, while the opponent uses multiple bulldogs to block and capture him.

Players take turns rolling a die to move their pieces through a network of paths separated by hedges and gates. Movement depends on the roll: even numbers allow standard movement, while odd numbers enable special actions such as jumping over hedges. Positioning and timing are key, as movement is restricted by the layout of the board.

Bulldogs can tackle the opposing man by landing on his space, reducing his movement in future turns. Multiple bulldogs can stack to further restrict him, though the runner may escape by rolling appropriately and jumping free. Blocking paths and coordinating bulldogs is essential to stopping the runner’s progress.

The objective is for the runner to cross the garden and exit through the opposite gate. To win, the player must roll an odd number to make the final jump over the gate, while the opposing player tries to delay or prevent this by capturing and slowing him down.
