本の虫 (Book Worm) is a deduction game with Japanese horror and suspense. Players work through actions on the 18 cards found on the book shelf. The game is published in Japanese with Japanese and English rules.

There's a rumor in the school library and the game had already started.

It's a long time ago story, a book-loving girl called "Book Worm" suddenly disappeared. Something magical happened, and the book she borrowed last was returned to the bookshelf of the school library.

The players arrange the cards to make the shelf of books. Within this might be the Book Worm book. Players work through the books, following the actions to deduce which it is, in order to avoid it.

There are three rules to find out the returned book.

1. You always borrow the book from one side of the shelf.
2. Follow the action on the title of the book.

3. The one who borrows the book with "Book Worm" on the library card will disappear and lose the game.

The Tale

It’s a long time ago story. In a certain place, there was a girl who loved books. She was called by everyone “Book Worm”, because she always
went to school library and borrowed a lot of books everyday.

One day, she suddenly disappeared. Nobody knew her whereabouts. Everyone talks to about her disappearance away from school like spirit person. Something magical happened and, the book she borrowed last, was returned to the Bookshelf school library.

Few decades later, the story of the girl “Book Worm” continued in the school library by everyone as ghost story. One day, a boy said to many student.
Let’s play the game to find out the location of the “Book Worm” that was last borrowed by the girl named “Book Worm”. Then, they started play the game.

Purpose
Players place BOOK cards orderly in a horizontal row on the table. The cards are called Bookshelf. When game is started, player will always pick cards from Bookshelf on the table, which means borrowing a Book from Bookshelf. Any player who picks up a joker card that is written “Book Worm” in Japanese character “本の虫” with a red color stripe on top.

物語

少し昔のお話です。
あるところに本が大好きな女の子がいました。

毎日のように学校の図書室に足を運んでは
本を借りていたので、

『本の虫』と呼ばれていました。
そんな彼女が、ある日忽然（こつぜん）と姿を消しました。

彼女のゆくえ行方は誰にも分からず、神隠しとして
学校中の噂（うわさ）となりましたが、

不思議なことに、そのとき彼女が借りていた本は
図書室の本棚に戻されていたそうです−。

彼女のことが
すっかり怪談話として伝わるようになった数十年後、

図書室に集まる本好きな学生たちの一人が
こんなことを口にしました。

「『本の虫』が最後に借りていた本を探すゲームをしないか。
借りた本の題名に沿って次に借りる本を決め、

貸出履歴に彼女の名前が入った本を借りた人が
どうなるのか確かめてみよう。」

こうして始まったゲームが
新たな物語の幕開けとなるのでした。

ゲームの目的

プレイヤーは
順番に横一列に並べた本を端からおもてにしていきます。

（これを『本を借りる』と呼びます）
その中で、貸出履歴に『本の虫』と書いてある本を

借りてしまったプレイヤーがゲームの敗北者となります。
本が持つ様々な効果を駆使し、

相手と本をよく見て勝利を掴みましょう。
