Battle looks to be a checkers variant. On the inside of the foldable board (which doubles as the game box), is a normal 8x8 checkerboard. The other side is the 'Battle' game board, which is composed of both circles and squares. The components appear to be hand-made, except for the 'Battle' board, which was printed and attached to the outside of the folding board.

The Battle board is composed of circles instead of squares. Pieces start on their own side of the board, in the rear-most row of circles (the "barracks"). There are several rows of circles, placed brick-like in alternating rows (thus, movement choice is 6 directions, like with a map composed of hexagons). There is a single row of "forts" in the center of the board, with two boxes labelled "Trench" on either side. Each side also has two "Safe" circles on their side, which are behind the trench boxes.

There are 15 red and 15 black round wooden pieces. Each piece has an embossed sun on one side and a small round circle on the other side.

At the beginning of the game, all pieces start on the back row of their side, with their circle-side up. These are called "privates" and may only advance forward, not backwards nor side to side. Once a piece reaches the center squares (the "forts"), they are turned over to their sun side. Pieces on their sun side can move forward of backward, but not side to side. At some point, another sun piece will be stacked on a sun piece, turning it into a "captain." Captains may move in any direction.

Pieces move as in checkers - one space, or two spaces by jumping a defender into an open space behind an opponent's piece. There are special rules for movement and jumping in and around the fort and trench boxes. Units in the safe spaces cannot be jumped.

Victory is achieved by eliminating all of your opponent's pieces, and a draw is possible.
