Through the centuries artisans have been the skilled workers, specialized craftsmen creating objects functional or decorative. Sculptures, drawings, jewelry, clothes, different shapes, and sizes. The work of the artisans has shaped the history of art and some creations have reached such worldwide fame they influence even the modern world.

In Artisans players are called upon to utilize seven different materials: clay, metal, wood, stone, gold, glass and textiles, honing their skills, perfecting their techniques, to culminate in the creation of the greatest art objects.

First the players choose an Artisan character from the 9 available. These characters have either a special power that is active throughout the game or an extra scoring condition for the end of the game.

The game is played over 12 rounds. Each round represents one month. A round is divided into two phases:

a) Collect – Trade of materials / craft an Art object
b) Development of materials

In the first phase of the round, players must choose to either visit the Market or craft an Art object first. During the first and second round you will not be able to craft Art objects, as you first need to develop at least 2 different materials.

In the second phase, players develop their skills by choosing one type of material from their hand and play, in front of them, as many cards as they want from that type. In this way they develope their skills on the different material types, starting from Level I up to Level IV.

The trick is, that players cannot play more cards than the number of cards played on the previous level of the same material type. So if you played 2 cards at Level I for wood, then the next time that you develop your wood skill you cannot play more than 2 cards at Level II. And each material card played, grants points equal to their level number.

So can you manage your cards smart enough to craft those Art objects and gain the most points? Can you use efficiently your Artisan character to gain even more points?

After 12 rounds the player with the most points from materials and Art objects is the winner!
