Players are positioned as on a standard football pitch, with the ball in the center. The kick-off is decided by a draw. Play proceeds based on time, with a halftime break and alternating turns.
A player can move up to 4 spaces to reach the ball, run up to 4 spaces with the ball, and must kick the ball a distance of 4 spaces. All individual movements must be made in a straight line.
At kick-off, the center-forward passes the ball to their inside-forward and takes up a position at the center point. The inside-forward may then run up to 4 spaces with the ball and must kick it a further 4 spaces. Movement and kicking can occur forwards, sideways, or backwards. Passing to a teammate is permitted, but the ball must not land on the space occupied by that player; i.e., there must be a gap of at least one space.
The opponent takes a turn after every kick of the ball. If an opponent is positioned such that they cannot reach the ball within 4 spaces, they must still move a piece, and the first team then takes their turn again.
If the goalkeeper gains possession, they may kick the ball up to 15 spaces away from the goal. If the ball goes out of play, the opponent takes a throw-in of up to 4 spaces. The goalkeeper has the same movement options as the outfield players.
Standard rules, such as offside, apply and are penalized accordingly.
