Aetherpunk28: a post apocalyptic Wizard skirmish game

In a time almost forgotten, the world was whole. From their seats at Avantir, the council of Wizards shared their gift of magic with the world, founding the great magical colleges. It was a time of wonder, prosperity, and progress. In their hubris, the council failed to consider the costs of their actions. They failed to realise that their powers were finite, until, rather predictably, it was too late, and they were too dependent on magic to function without it. With magic beginning to deteriorate, so too did the bonds between the colleges.

Aetherpunk28 is a post apocalyptic Wizard skirmish game where colleges of Wizards battle one another in the ruins of their world, fighting over what little magic is left after the end of the world.

Aetherpunk28 is a skirmish game, where players build Colleges (squads) of Apprentices, commanded by a powerful Wizard. The game uses a unique skill check system where a model must roll a 6 or higher, on any sized die from D12 to D4 (good luck with that) depending on the model’s skills and abilities to complete actions. But this is a game about magic after all, managing your finite Erudite is key to victory.
Will you use it to power up your troops, or unleash devastating spells upon your foes?
The choice is yours, but watch your supplies carefully, as magic is powerful but fleeting.

But what would a game be without units?
A firm favourite from the game’s first edition is the humble Slogger, the humble backbone of many a college. The eagle-eyed fans of the game’s first edition may notice a few changes to the profile. The stats listed correspond to the die rolled when moving, making a ranged attack, fighting in melee, defending themselves against incoming attacks, and finally, how long they’re willing to stay in the fight once the shots and spells start flying. Willpower is not only a model’s health, but dictates how well they can act rationally, react to enemy movements and cast spells. Once a model’s willpower begins to decline, they’ll rapidly lose effectiveness in battle.

But of course it’s not just Sloggers that you’ll be able to command, there’s mounted scouts, arcane engines (ancient and magical tanks), Golems, zombies and even walking fortresses!
