Abcuazego (from Muisca: ab pquazygo, meaning “the game of maize”) is a strategy game for two players: Zipa and Zaque. It is played on a rectangular board with two parallel rows of ten pits per side and two stores, one at each end. Each player controls the row closest to them and the store located to their right. At the start, each pit contains five maize grains and the stores are empty.

Turns:The Zipa plays first and then turns alternate. On your turn, perform the following actions in order:

You harvest by taking all the grains from one of your pits.
You sow by distributing the grains, one per pit, starting at the next pit in the sowing direction indicated by the parity of the harvested pit:

Even: dextrorotary (clockwise) direction
Odd: levorotary (counter-clockwise) direction

You may choose the opposite direction to the one marked by parity only if, when sowing in that direction, at least one of the grains will fall into an opposing pit.

When sowing, you always skip the stores, except when the last grain falls into a store:

If it falls into your store, you gain an extra turn.
If it falls into the opposing store, your uaque (companion) gains an extra turn.

Captures:All grains are captured in the row opposite the corresponding player and deposited in that player's store. There are three types of capture:

Origin–destination match: You capture if the pit where the last grain falls ends with the same number as the pit you harvested.
Adjacent match: You capture if the destination pit ends with the same number as one of its orthogonally adjacent pits:
If the destination is on an opposing pit: compare with the left, right, or front
If the destination is on your own pit: compare only with the front pit.

Absolute match: At the end of a turn, if on each side only one pit with grains remains and both contain the same number, the player who just moved captures the opposing pit.

End of the game:The game ends in two ways:

If a player accumulates 36 or more grains in their store, they win immediately.
Otherwise, after the last move:

The player who moved captures all the grains from one complete row (their choice).
The winner is the one with the highest total score in their store.
