In A Roda do Tarot ("The Tarot Wheel"), each player takes on the role of The Fool and traverses The Fool's Journey, composed of the 22 major arcana of the tarot, experiencing the joys and difficulties inherent to every path. Along the way, players reflect on life, share ideas and experiences with friends, and exercise free will through the choices presented throughout the game.

The game ends when a player fills every position on their personal spread. They then interpret the full tarot reading as the answer to their original question. The player who completes their spread first wins, though the real reward lies in the insights gained along the way.
