18xx set on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea off of Sweden´s east coast. 3 to 5 players invest in and manage a total of 11 railway companies with the ultimate goal of becoming the wealthiest investor.
Unique features of 1878 Gotland compared to other 18xx titles is an unusual initial Private auction, Privates with different powers depending on ownership, a map full of "dits" which emphasizes the importance of creating lucrative routes more than ever before, both full capitalization and incremental capitalization, rusting of trains AND tracks, stock manipulation etc.
