1713 Menorca: Under British Rule is an 18xx-family train game set in one of history's most extraordinary geopolitical curiosities — the island of Minorca under British rule from 1713 to 1756.

When the Treaty of Utrecht ended the War of the Spanish Succession in 1713, Spain ceded Minorca to Great Britain. For forty-three years, the island became a privileged commercial enclave in a Mediterranean surrounded by Catholic powers. Mahón harbour — considered the finest natural port in the entire Mediterranean — transformed the island into a redistributive hub connecting English manufactures, West Indies colonial goods, and the markets of Barcelona, Genoa, Marseille, and Naples.
1713 Menorca is not a game about ships. It is a game about trade and power.

Players take the role of investors and merchants competing to build the most profitable commercial networks across the island and into the wider Mediterranean. You manage one or more of four historical corporations — each with its own strategic identity:

RNC (Royal Navy Company) — Dominates the port routes and exterior trade out of Mahón
CLV (Compagnie du Levant) — French mercantile interests, unlocked from Phase 3
RCC (Real Compañía de Comercio) — The Hispanic commercial legacy, anchored in Ciutadella and the interior
RAM (Ramaders i Artesans de Menorca) — The diverse local economy: livestock, crafts, and rural networks

Each game uses 3 of 7 unique private companies — from the Shoemakers' Guild of Ciutadella to the Versailles Intelligence network and the Castle of San Felipe — each offering distinctive abilities that shape your strategy.
The game unfolds across four historical phases (1713–1756), each unlocking new ship types and trade connections. Xebecs give way to Galleys, then Frigates and Ships of the Line, while overland Carts complement the maritime network. The game ends either when the bank runs dry or when the French Conquest of 1756 event triggers — the fall of Fort San Felipe that ended British rule forever.

The hexagonal board faithfully recreates Minorca's economic geography: the port of Mahón as the dominant hub, Ciutadella as the western counterweight, the coastal watchtower network forming a ring of low-value cabotage nodes, and external connections to Marseille, Algiers, and the Levant opening progressively through the phases.

Designed by Jordi Salord, a Minorca-born game designer whose roots and passion for the 18xx genre converge in this historically grounded, tightly designed game. A full historical booklet accompanies the game, connecting every mechanic to the real economic and maritime history of 18th-century Minorca.
